Fox News Funds Ground Zero Mosque

So the ‘evil’ money that’s funding the building of the ‘evil’ mosque near Ground Zero, comes from a Saudi Prince, (Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal), who is the second largest share holder of Fox News.

So Fox News, (whose profits go to said Prince), is funding the mosque they are railing against…PRICELESS!!

Funny how they never mention Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal by name or show the many photos one can find of him shaking hands with Rupert Murdoch or George Bush Jr…

Is Fox just plain evil or just plain stupid?

How would you vote?

I don’t care where you stand on the issue of the mosque – what I’m wondering is if you think Fox News ignorantly left out the above fact, (they’re just plain stupid), or did they knowingly deceive their audience to cover their asses and continue to incite hate and instill fear in the public, (just plain evil)?

Life and Fires and Stuff

I know I’ve been MIA for awhile… got caught up in all the election stuff, (GO OBAMA!!), and went through post election blues… burnt out yet still wishing Rachel Maddow had more to report. 😛

Missed a bunch of swells and feel bummed about that…

Now this week I’m surrounded by the brush fires in Los Angeles and haven’t been able to go out for days due to the smoke and ash. Believe me, I’m grateful my house isn’t in danger but it’s amazing how so many of us are affected even though we live miles away from the actual flames.

This photo was taken at the beach 2 blocks from my house in Long Beach… ash was falling like a light dusting of snow and smoke burned my eyes… the fires in Corona and Yorba Linda were about 20 miles away but the winds brought the smoke overhead, blocking out the sun and making Noon look like evening.

Post Debate

I’d have to call it a draw… McCain people will say he won and Obama people will say he won.

I do wish Obama would have been a little more hard-hitting but I know he’s trying to keep on the higher road and play nice, but he really could have pressed the fact that McCain is basically 4 more years of the same terrible leadership we have now.

At least we got to hear their real differences on foreign policy. I have to agree with Obama that we’re so darned focused on Iraq that we have tunnel vision. Afghanistan and Pakistan are where Al Quaida is hiding out and we need to expand our efforts there. Bin Ladin has still yet to be found, thank you Mr Bush!

I do have to say that McCain looked like an ignorant bully when he stuck to his guns about not talking with Iran or our other perceived enemies. C’mon dude, this is the 21st century! It’s no longer ‘might-makes-right’ and ‘good fences make good neighbors’. Whether you like it or not we’re all intertwined… we can’t just cut off these people. We’re tied to all these countries now be it through their oil, their nuclear weapons, our economies, etc. Telling them to ‘talk to the hand’ is stupid and childish and won’t get anything accomplished.

I’d rate it 55%-45% to Obama – but I am biased. 🙂

I hope Biden can walk the fine line this Thursday with Palin. I think all he has to do is let her put her foot in her mouth…

Tonight’s Debate

I’m glad to hear, (as of this afternoon), that the presidential debate is now on for tonight – can’t wait to see McCain get his butt whipped!

Palin is Hot but McCain Looks Desperate

She may be a looker but Palin makes McCain look like a lecherous fool – what the heck was he thinking?!?

Who is Sarah Palin? Here’s some basic background:

  • She was elected Alaska’s governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.
  • Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.
  • She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.
  • Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.
  • She’s doesn’t think humans are the cause of climate change.
  • She’s solidly in line with John McCain’s “Big Oil first” energy policy. She’s pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won’t be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.
  • How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.

I’m sorry, but if I had a daughter I wouldn’t want anyone denying her an abortion if she got raped and became pregnant, (I can’t believe a woman could ever feel this way!), and I certainly wouldn’t want my kids to be taught that the world was created in 7 days, (even though we have scientific evidence that it’s billions of years old), and that the female race came from a guy’s rib!

Plus the Republican party, (of which I am a member), is screaming that Obama doesn’t have enough experience yet they’re putting this bimbo who’s been the governor of Alaska for only 1 1/2 years and has ZERO national and international experience, just a heartbeat away from being our president!!

You gotta look at reality – the guy is 72 years old and not exactly in the greatest shape… there is more than a slim chance that she could become our president.  :-O

I’m sorry McCain – this was a good publicity move and you stole Obama’s thunder for a day but the blowback is gonna kill you buddy… this Republican is voting for Obama

Save San Onofre State Beach – Stop Schwarzenegger and His Cronnies!

This just in from the California State Parks Foundation:

San Onofre State Beach needs our help!

The toll road backers in Orange County are appealing to the federal government to override the Coastal Commission and get special approval to build their toll road through San Onofre State Beach.

Click here and take 30 seconds to send a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, urging him to deny the toll road appeal.

You’ll remember that on February 6, the California Coastal Commission voted overwhelmingly to deny federal Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) consistency certification for the Foothill-South Toll Road. The hearing lasted 14 hours and was packed with over 3,500 people. At the end of the day, the Commission voted 8-2 to oppose consistency certification for the road, finding that it violated virtually every provision of the state’s Coastal Act.

But the TCA has appealed that strong decision to the U.S. Department of Commerce and is working to overturn the Commission’s ruling. The Secretary of Commerce will be making a final decision on the appeal and needs to hear from you!

Park supporters need to make their voices heard. Help us tell decision-makers in Washington D.C. that the federal government and the current Administration cannot overturn the Coastal Commission’s clear and thoughtful decision on this matter.

Please send a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, urging him to deny the toll road appeal. Public comments will be accepted until May 28 – tell your friends and family to send a letter supporting San Onofre State Beach, too!

Thoughtless Slobs – Hold Your Butts

So it took a report by the Ocean Conservancy to tell everyone else something I already knew… smokers are thoughtless, self-absorbed dorks!

Apparently one day last September they got almost 400,00 volunteers in 76 countries to pick up trash from 33,000 miles of shoreline and they came up with 6-million pounds of trash! Guess what the majority of the 7.2 million pieces of it were… yep, friggin’ cigarette butts!! Almost 2-million of them to be exact…

As someone who frequents the beach I see this evidence almost everyday. As someone who lives in Southern California I cheer when city-by-city our beaches ban smoking on the sand.

What most idiot smokers don’t get is that the butt they throw out their window 3 miles away from the ocean will eventually get to the ocean. If not the next rain, then the one after that…

If you can’t tell, this is a pet peeve of mine, (this and car stereos so loud that the dishes in my cabinet audibly shake). Nothing burns me up more than to be behind car and watch some dork throw a butt out the window.. and still burning besides that, (yes here in brushfire-famous SoCal)!!!

Maybe this report will bring this huge and stupid problem to more peoples’ attention so I won’t be the only one yelling at drivers to use their ashtrays…

Oh, second on the list: food wrappers.

Pick up after yourselves people – your mama ain’t here to do it for you!!
